The Loop Issue Thirty-Three

Letter from the Editor

The holiday cheer and season of merriness is upon us! This edition is meant to alleviate the weight of December, and allow its lightness to fill your homes and hearts. Black Friday deals have halted, and the panic has most likely set in, so allow us to give you the best choices to gift your loved ones and throw your worries in the bin. (Forgive the rhyming, I am being swept up in the tantalizing tunes of Manilow to Buble as I type). Furs have taken a backseat in the traditional winter wardrobe, and the Fashion Awards ring in a night of refreshing new looks while other pioneers of fashion leave us their legacy. Shopping guides are everywhere you look but good ones are hard to come by, thankfully you have us.

your Editor In Chief,

IN THE NEWS:

Fur is Cancelled

Poland recently signed the Animal Protection Act, setting up an eight-year phase-out of the country’s fur trade with fur farms. Poland’s action is in response to the declining sale of fur worldwide, with the exports of fur dropping more than $10 billion in sales just in 2023 alone. The same trend is happening in luxury houses across the globe. Gucci, Burberry, Prada, Chanel and Moncler have also made a commitment to fur-free clothing in recent years, while fashion weeks across Europe have banned fur from their runways entirely.

The 2025 Fashion Awards did not disappoint

In London, the 2025 Fashion Awards honored the industry’s best in one star-studded night. Grace Wales Bonner — creative director of menswear at Hermes – won British Menswear Designer of the Year award and Costume Designer of the Year Award went to Kate Hawley. The star of the show, Miss Anok Yai herself, won Model of the Year Award, presented by two past winners Paloma Elsesser and Alex Consani. The last award of the night went to Jonathan Anderson — for the third year in a row — for the Designer of the Year Award for his work with. The night was interspersed with musical performances from British musician and icon Raye and grammy award-winning artist Tems.

Best looks from the 2025 Gotham Awards

The unofficial kickoff to movie awards season happened on December 1, 2025 with the Gotham Awards in New York City. Our favorite fashion and film icons were in attendance, and there were some fabulous looks on the red carpet. Some highlights include Rihanna and A$AP Rocky in Balenciaga and Chanel, Havana Rose Liu in a sleek Schiaparelli gown, and Jeremy Allen White in a chocolate Louis Vuitton suit. Highlights from the awards include One Battle After Another by Paul Thomas Anderson winning Best Feature and My Father’s Shadow by Akinola Davies Jr, taking home Breakthrough Director and Outstanding Lead Performance.

Scottish fashion designer and icon Pam Hogg has died at 74

A defining force in the UK counterculture movement of the 1980s, Pam Hogg was known for her eccentric style, punk spirit, and iconic acid-yellow hair. In the early 2000s, her work consisted of striking catsuits, bright colors, sculptural elements, and plenty of latex, dressing stars like Kylie Minogue, Rihanna, and Lady Gaga. Although Hogg was self-taught, she’s been lauded for her exquisite workmanship, sewing all her own designs and creating pieces that fit like a second skin. More than a designer, Hogg was an artist, musician, and performer, and her legacy will carry on.

TREND WATCH: We’re freaking out about faux furs

As temperatures drop, we’re on the hunt for fashionable and sustainable ways to stay warm. In honor of the simultaneous drop in temperature and Poland dropping animal fur trade, we’re embracing faux fur coats, scarves, and shawls, and even bags, skirts, and shoes. Whether they come new or vintage from antique shops, we’re crazy about fur (ethically). Check out Ducie’s chic “Maddy Fur Collar,” Paula Rowan’s “Barbara Fur-Trimmed Leather Gloves” or ME+EM’s “Luxe Shearling Leather-Mix Swing Coat” to brave the cold weather in style.

EVENTS:

Art Basel Miami Beach

Leading galleries from five continents are showing Modern and contemporary art at Miami Beach this week, and the hottest parties are in accompaniment, featuring exclusive dining experiences, special DJ sets, and large-scale sculptural exhibitions.

STYLE SPOTLIGHT: Oddli

Founded in 2021 by two recent Stanford grads Eleanor Chen and Jensen Neff, the brand Oddli is making waves in the fashion community and beyond. With their focus on sustainability and free-spirited fashion, Oddli weaves exploration with ethical-focused industry practices like the use of deadstock materials to create something uniquely their own — fun, tongue-in-cheek, playful. In 2024, they collaborated with singer/songwriter (and heartthrob) Role Model, creating a six piece collection for his then-new album “Kansas Anymore.” It featured three cropped tees, two scarves, and one pair of boxers.
