The Loop Issue Thirty-Two

Letter from the Editor

Even though the first snow fall makes us want to curl up and watch our favorite rom-coms, the fashion world is doing anything other than getting comfortable. Plenty of changes have shaken the industry into a flurry of uncertainty and excitement. The fresh blanket of snow is soon to be painted over with events like Art Basel on the horizon. And to keep you grounded, we’ve provided some seasonal selections to remain bright and cheery with the upcoming holidays and temperature drops. While you update your gift list, we’ve got your back (your new dress, and your new hat).

Sincerely Yours,

Olivier Rousteing leaves Balmain

Olivier Rousteing, the first Black designer to helm a French luxury house, steps down as Balmain’s creative director after 14 years in the position. As creative director, Rousteing elevated Balmain to another level, and was honored for his artistry under Balmain with awards like the Couture Council Award. As one of the more publicly visible designers of our age, his exit marks the end to one of the most ingenious and disruptive designer tenures of the 21st century.

Teen Vogue merges with Vogue

In the hopes of unifying reader experience across titles, Teen Vogue will be merging with Vogue.com. This transition captures Vogue’s broader desire to expand its influence across all platforms. Teen Vogue will still remain its own editorial property with a distinct mission and identity, but will be under Vogue’s domain.

The rise of Rosalia’s newest aesthetic in the wake of album “Lux”

With Rosalía’s newest album release of “Lux” came an electric shift in the singer-songwriter’s interaction with self expression through fashion. Before “Lux,” Rosalía had always been the embodiment of a cool-girl kind of chic, but there was an element of simpleness to her fashion that was almost predictable. Now, Rosalía is anything but predictable, not only singing in 13 different languages, but using clothing to celebrate unifying elements of artistry. The style shift is aligned with angelicism and ethereal energy, reminding fans that she is capable of pushing the boundaries in and out of the studio.

Medieval architecture? Bodily works of art? Marten’s debut Margiela collection has it all

With his debut collection, Glenn Martens, the creative director of Maison Margiela, took inspiration from the medieval architecture of his Belgian roots to create a collection that looked more like walking embodiments of works of art rather than clothes and fabric on the body. Every model in this collection was made faceless by Martens’ designs, warping the models into opulent imagery of color and clashing material. With this collection, Martens stayed true to his own unique artistic style while also honoring and paying tribute to Margiela’s legacy.

Adidas x Miaou: Motorsports meets California-chic

In their inaugural collaborative collection, Adidas and Miaou have come together to show us how channeling motorsports and the iconicness of California living can manifest as a living tribute to the freeness inherent in femininity. The collection aims to embody the defiant attitude found in automotive culture and the ever-illustrious accessories embedded in California style, using models like Gabriette and Devon Lee Carlson as a spring board to set this collection’s tone.

Ssense goes bankrupt

Ssense, the Montréal-based fashion company, filed for bankruptcy in late August 2025. Ssense’s bankruptcy is said to be in response to Trump’s recent tariffs and the pressure from lenders to force a sale of the company. Business was slowing well before Ssense filed for bankruptcy, though, with the company’s appeal towards Gen-Z not enough to keep it afloat in the end.

TREND WATCH: Let’s run it back, Y2K: The rise of icy blue eyeshadow looks

As we fall into winter, the makeup landscape leans into the cold weather with this icy blue makeup trend. Gone are the warm, bronze tones we have come to love from fall — say hello to frosty blues, purples, and glitter galore with the season’s hottest (or should I say coolest?) looks. The switch? We can thank Y2k and the 2010s for that, as the industry begins to embrace the whimsy and campiness inherent from the era. Check out Half Magic’s “Sparklestik Eye Crayon” or Glossier’s “Skywash” in the color “pebble” to lean into this year’s chillest trend yet.
