IN THE NEWS: VOGUEWORLD

This spooky season, Vogue World 2025 was one for the books, turning the red carpet into a living movie reel. It was like stepping into a vast world of cinema’s most iconic eras, with Hollywood’s best embodying this runway twist. From Anok Yai’s brooding take on Edward Scissorhands to Angela Bassett paying homage to her role as Queen Ramonda in “Black Panther,” the evening blurred the line between costume and couture, paying tribute to Hollywood’s legacy while reimagining it through fashion’s sharpest lens. In a moment when nostalgia and innovation collide, Vogue World proved that storytelling isn’t confined to the screen — it can be stitched, sculpted, and brought to life under the lights of a runway.
Old Hollywood Meets New Hollywood at Vogue World
Vogue World celebrated the enduring romance between fashion and film by transporting its audience straight to the heart of old and new Hollywood. Costume met character, glamour met storytelling, and by centering the night on performance and costume design, Vogue honored the artisans who shape cinematic identity and reminded audiences that fashion itself is a form of performance art. Vogue did more than just honor the artisans with captivating looks, though — 100% of ticket proceeds went to the Entertainment Community Fund, with the hopes of uplifting costume professionals in the industry who were impacted by the Los Angeles wildfires. With this mixture of fashion and the arts, along with raising money for a worthy cause, Vogue World became not only a runway, but, as Vogue global editorial director Anna Wintour put it, a rallying cry — a way to bring awareness to a group of creatives impacted by a devastating act and uplift a global audience of people with creativity, hope, and inspiration. With this theme in mind, Vogue World did more than just cook — they feasted.

Gracie Abrams and ‘That’s So True’ at Vogue World

All the sad indie girls feigning for a sad-girl fall couldn’t help but smile when they learned Gracie Abrams was performing for Vogue World. Clad in a floral-embellished burgundy set from Chanel’s spring 2026 collection, Abrams began her performance with a cover of Carole King’s 1971 hit “I Feel the Earth Move,” then shifted to her own song “That’s So True” from her 2024 album The Secret of Us. She had the whole crowd moving and bumping, and even had some of the models, like Cara Delevingne, coming up to her and dancing with her during her performance. She was electric, and everyone could feel it. Other performances were equally captivating, with Doja Cat stunning the crowd with her vocals and a custom chain mail dress that was a nod to Mad Max. Needless to say, these artists showed up and showed out with vocals, fits, and even more personality.
Special Guests and Unexpected Appearances at Vogue World
As if Vogue World couldn’t get any cooler, they drag California Gov. Gavin Newsom to the party. The charismatic politician was dapper in a navy blue suit that could probably pay for the rest of my college tuition — needless to say, Newsom looked as handsome as ever. Oh, and he made Vogue World his own version of a family outing, tagging along his wife, documentary filmmaker Jennifer Siebel Newsom, and the couple’s eldest daughter, Montana. When are my parents going to casually bring me to a Vogue World event? Anyways. Other special guests included Gwenyth Paltrow, Miley Cyrus, Lizzo, and some of the industry’s most celebrated costume designers. Vogue World was a party, made manifest for some of pop culture’s most iconic figures. Who knows, maybe this Vogue World will jumpstart Newsom’s 2028 presidential campaign — I certainly hope so.

TREND WATCH: 2010 Glam

Kylie Jenner is reviving her iconic “King Kylie” era with a striking bubblegum pink wig and full bombshell glam—confirming that early-2010s beauty is officially back. The vivid pink, along with her sculpted face and matte makeup, is a nod to the current 2010s revival and the flashy, maximalist, and unapologetically fun styles we’ve been seeing throughout 2025.

STYLE SPOTLIGHT: Grace Wales Bonner

As Grace Wales Bonner steps into her new chapter with Hermès, menswear enters its “heritage-meets-horizon era.” Her namesake label first captured attention by threading Savile Row tailoring with Afro-Atlantic narratives — think velvet capes, cowrie shells, and tuxedo trousers reimagined. In other words, the most visually appealing yet somehow dislocating and jarring pieces that constantly demand your attention. Now, through collaborations with Adidas and immersive exhibitions, she’s woven sportswear, ritual, and culture into a wardrobe that feels both intimate and expansive. If there’s anything Bonner can teach us, it’s that fashion is as much about story as silhouette. In this way, choosing your look isn’t just a menial act — it’s a whole adventure.
